I loved my shoot this weekend with these gorgeous brothers, Joshua and Jude in their beautiful Rollingwood home. At 6 and 9 years old, these boys are poised, charming and hilarious. I’m completely smitten. Upon entering their home, they both shook my hand and introduced themselves and asked me how I was doing. Great start. It didn’t take long for us to warm to each other but since this was our first time working together, I like to do a few exercises to get everyone comfortable and to get a better gauge on their individual personalities. I asked them to make their most serious face and then their silliest faces. Next, I asked them to jump around and on the count of three strike a pose. I love doing exercises like this (not only with kids) because it’s so telling. Are you a little shy? A total ham? Silly? Sweet? Jude and Joshua are all those and more and needless to say, a photographers dream.
Here are some of my favorites from their recent session. Warning: total babe alert!
Are. You. Kidding. Me?
I have no idea where the time is going these days. It feels like just yesterday I was photographing little Scarlett’s birth and now baby girl is 3 months old and looking ridiculously cute in her Christmas pj’s with her big brother, Max. This whole family is such a joy and I loved photographing them all together, along with a portrait of Lucy, Sara and Chris’ sweet girl who passed last year, in their Austin home.
These are my favorite. Max and Scarlett were mesmerized by the soft glow of the Christmas tree lights and while laying underneath their sister Lucy’s first ornament and alongside her stuffed bear, these three siblings make such a beautiful holiday portrait.
And I would not love being a family and children’s photographer if I didn’t genuinely love the moments in between. This is what lifestyle photography is all about- capturing the real moments in your family’s life. Here are some of my favorite “outtakes” – Fort the cat makes sure he’s not left out of the family portrait and Max reminds us of the importance of taking a silly break!
