Congratulations to Amy & Bryan, truly one of the most beautiful couples I’ve ever known. They married yesterday in a gorgeous ceremony surrounded by family & friends, many of whom gathered around them Friday night to toast them in true Austin style- with margaritas and queso! Here are some of my favorite images from their rehearsal dinner where there were many sweet speeches, a classic slideshow and lots and lots of love. Mazel tov!
This past friday, Lee turned 3 months old. That is C R A Z Y. Here’s a mini throwback to when he was just 2 weeks. I don’t remember him ever being this little, but since he’s been born, there’s a lot I don’t remember. Thank goodness for photography!
Last week I had the honor of photographing Scarlett’s birth at St.David’s North Austin Medical Center. Scarlett was received with so much love and anticipation by her mother Sara, father Chris and big brother Max. Scarlett is the second daughter to Sara and Chris who lost their baby girl, Lucy on Mothers Day 2013 to dilated cardiomyopathy at just 15 months old. Lucy is present in these images and at this event by way of her stuffed bear that Sara sits lovingly on Scarlett in a photo below. After having two natural births and suffering some extreme back pain with Lucy’s birth, Sara opted to have a scheduled epidural. I was so privileged to witness the love between this family as they celebrated the arrival of their daughter and I am humbled to have been asked to document such an intimate day in this family’s life. To read Sara’s account of Scarlett’s birth story and to read several other beautiful and thoughtful stories of motherhood, family and loss, please visit Sara’s blog.

A week ago, Ariston Ellis Golden was born, and it was awesome. This little man kept us all on our toes anticipating his arrival; he was predicted to come early but instead arrived a day after his original due date. How eerily accurate! I was so honored to be there and to document this most important day, and everyone sure made it really easy on me! Nichole, Ariston’s bad ass momma, was so calm and collected the whole time and new Poppa Will was solid as a rock by Nichole’s side. It was also a beautiful, unseasonably warm January day in Austin. Ariston came into the world at 2:01 pm on January 15 at St. David’s hospital after a very brief and graceful labor and he could not be more loved by his new parents.
As a birth photographer, I’ve been present for a number of births but now that I am expecting (and soon), I was absolutely overwhelmed with how amazing life is. This came in the form of big, sloppy, blur your viewfinder tears.
Congratulations, Nichole & Will and welcome to the world, baby Ariston!!
